eXplorador Escocés
Worth stopping by!
This church was built after the dissolution of Catholicism in Scotland, during the religious reform that happened here in the 16th century. The old church was looted and abandoned, and the church standing before us now was built. Building records indicate that several structural reforms have been carried out, however, according to historical documents the exterior structure is almost identical to the original. It is not possible to precisely date the exact construction date, however the oldest record (of a baptism) is from 1546, which leads us to believe that it was built in the first half of this century.
Inside is quite modern, and not flashy at all. The pastor, William, is very friendly and attentive ... we spoke to him for a while and he invited us for a tea and showed us some parts of the church that are not normally accessible by the general public, including the historical archives. Not the best church in the town, but it's worth stopping by there to take a look at one of the most prestigious buildings in the town.
