Museum of the Union

One of the historic buildings which is located on the grounds of the Citadel is the Museum Unirii or of the Union. It is made up of a large building of two stories built in the late 19th century, where an important historical event happened: In this building, in the year 1918, the union of Transylvania to the kingdom of Romania was proclaimed. The museum was created in 1968 and is considered one of the largest in the country. It has over a hundred rooms which display artifacts, pieces of coins, and it has a permanent exhibition of customs and ethnography of the country.
