Mummy Museum (Museo de los Momias)

The Mummy Museum tells the story of a cemetery near the city, a land characterized with special geology that caused the bodies buried there be preserved well. These mummies, therefore, are different from any mummies in the world and are more than a century old. The mummified appear with their "personal history" and their original costumes, and you can even see the causes of death in some cases. The walk up to the museum from the city center is heavy but it is an opportunity to see a different downtown Guanajuato. There are trucks (buses) or you can hitch-hike.

Due to the minerals on the ground and the water this is a fascinating phenomenon, excellent place if you want to know a little more about the culture of that time.
