O museu está nas galerias subterrâneas do antigo sistema de abastecimento de água da cidade no século 19, quando Cuiabá tinha somente 20 mil habitantes. Por isso, caminhar por estas galerias é conhecer um pouco mais da história da capital mato-grossense. Às vezes recebe exposições temporárias de obras de arte. Para montar as exposições o museu costuma fechar sem prévio aviso. Por isso, é bom ligar antes de ir para não dar com a cara na porta.
Horário de funcionamento: Terça a sexta, das 9h às 12h e das 14h às 18h; sábado e domingo, das 10h às 12h e das 13h às 17h.
The museum is in the underground galleries of the old system of water supply of the city in the 19th century, when Cuiabá had only 20,000 inhabitants.
