Museo del Indio y del Gaucho

En este pequeño museo (gratuito, por cierto) se reconstruye, a través de algunos objetos de la vida cotidiana, la historia indígena de esta zona. Las tierras en las que hoy se encuentra Tacuarembó pertenecían a los charrúas, que desaparecieron con la llegada de los conquistadores sobre todo debido a las epidemias de viruela que éstos llevaron. En el museo se cuentan las costumbre de los charrúas y de los gauchos (hay diferentes piezas de armas y vestimenta gaucha). Nos pareció que no había suficiente explicación acompañando a los objetos, dejando poco claro su significado histórico.

In this small museum (free, by the way) is reconstructed through some objects of everyday life, the indigenous history of this area. The land on which is now owned by the charrúas Tacuarembó that disappeared with the arrival of the conquerors mostly due to epidemics of smallpox that they brought. In the museum the custom of charrúas and gauchos are counted (there are different pieces of weapons and gaucho clothing). We found that there was sufficient explanation accompanying objects, leaving unclear its historical significance.
