Amazing sequoias
Muir Woods National Monument is a Pacific Coast park located around 19km. north of the city of San Francisco and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. "This is the best tree that nature lovers can find among all the world's forests," said conservationist John Muir when he discovered the majestic Sequoias of the U.S. West Coast. Muir Woods is one of the largest national urban parks worldwide. It has an area of 75,980 hectares and covers 59 miles of the west coast. Throughout the year, the forest is cool and moist. This species of coastal Sequoias have incredible growth, the highest recorded to date is 379.1 meters high! The trees of Muir Woods are relatives of the Giant Sequoias, but the latter reach lower altitudes, around 125 meters long with wider trunks.
