A small, rocky island
Mouro Island, in the autonomous community of Cantabria, is located right at the entrance of Santander Bay, opposite the Magdalena Peninsula. It is a very small and rocky island of only 1.7 hectares. It is of importance because on the highest part of the island is one of the nine lighthouses of Cantabria, Mouro Island lighthouse. The small island belongs to Santander and you can see it from the Bay of Santander, the Magdalena Peninsula and the Trasmiera coast, which is formed by the Somo and Loredo beaches.
