A historic monument
The Moulay Slimane mosque is a bit outside the historic walls of the city, next to the Nouzhat Hassan park. Now it is being renovated, and it is a historical monument dating back to 1822. The Alaouite Sultan Moulay Slimane built it shortly before his death. Unlike in Turkey, Morocco's mosques are closed to non-Muslims, but you can enter the sacred precinct. You can see the outdoor patio, with separate entrances for men and women, and the place where worshippers wash before going to pray.
