Posadas is the capital city of the province of Misiones, northeast end of the Republic Argentina. Currently, Posadas is the with more growth in the region NEA ("Nordeste Argentino") and forms the metropolitan area Gran Posadas. The name honors José Gervasio Posadas, who was an Argentine politician, "Supreme Director" in 1814 of the United Provinces of Rio de la Plata. In this area, both in the province of Misiones and Corrientes, there is a character that is not well known in the rest of Argentina. This is "Comandante Andresito", an army leader, the only fully indigenous one, whose fight on the coast the earned him the title of General.

He was born in 1778 and lived little more than 40 years. In his military career, he was adopted by Jose Gervasio Artigas a rioplatense military leader, so that he could be promoted and continue his brilliant career as Andres Guazuzar and Artigas. During the invasions, the captain Andres led the resistance successfully until he fell prisoner to the Brasilians in 1819. He was sent to the prison of Porto Alegre wrapped in fresh leather, which when dries made it hard to breath. It is believed that he died in Rio de Janeiro. In the city of Posadas is a memorial statue was inaugurated in December 2013, in which plate says "Commander Andres Guacurar and Artigas, hero guarana, for his contribution to the epic of Latin American emancipation and its contribution to territorial integrity."
