Monument to King John III Sobieski
Very close to the Palace on the Water, and the exit of Lazienki gardens, is the monument to King John III Sobieski, one of the most famous kings of Poland. The monument, measuring about 4 meters, depicts the king on horseback with knight's armor, triumphant over Turkish soldiers who were defeated at the Battle of Vienna. On both sides of the monument are two shields that were captured from the Turks. The funny thing is that my friend (the one pictured) is Turkish and I learned the meaning of that sculpture many months later.
