Dedicato ad un personaggio molto amato in città
Al centro di una delle piazze più note e centrali di Dubrovnik, c’è il monumento a Ivan Gondulic, un umanista poliedrico molto amato. Molto interessanti i bassorilievi che adornano il basamento del monumento: riproducono episodi importanti tratti da un poema che narra le battaglie contro i Turchi. Tra quelli che spiccano di più c’è la rappresentazione della città di Dubrovnick seduta sul trono circondata da un drago alato e da un leone che simboleggiano rispettivamente le potenze turche e veneziane, da sempre nemiche.
At the center of one of the most famous and central streets of Dubrovnik, c monument to Ivan Gondulic, a humanist versatile much loved. Very interesting bas-reliefs adorning the base of the monument: reproduce important episodes taken from a poem that recounts the battles against the Turks. Among those that stand out most c representation of the city of Dubrovnick sitting on the throne surrounded by a winged dragon and a lion symbolizing respectively powers Turkish and Venetian, always enemy.
