Monument to the Fallen

This War Memorial is located in the central part of ​​the José de Lemos Garden. It aims to pay tribute to soldiers who fought in the former Portuguese colonies. It is made in concrete by the sculptor António Saraiva and was commissioned by the Combatants League. It consists of three small low concrete walls, which represent the three countries in which men from this county fought: they are Angola, Guinea and Mozambique. On the sides are plates cat in copperwith the names of soldiers of the Guard who fell during the war.
