Monument to Commander Benitez

En el Paseo del Parque de Málaga, se encuentra la estatua en honor al Comandante Benítez y a los héroes de Igueriben ( Campo de batalla durante la guerra del Rif). La estatua fué inaugurada por el Rey Alfonso XIII y Miguel Primo de Rivera en el año 1929, a su paso por Málaga, reconociendo así el valor y mérito que tuvo el comandante en la guerra librada en el Norte de África La estatua es de bronce y mármol, con la figura del comandante en bronce de pié y sosteniendo un sable, el pedestal es de mármol con un soldado yacente.En la inscripción se puede leer " Al heroico comandante Benitez 1921", Aunque muchos malagueños no conozcan la historia de este héroe, si que ese nombre ha estado presente durante muchos años en la vida cotidiana de los malagueños incluso también en otras provincias, ya que el Cuartel donde antiguamente se realizaba el servicio militar en Málaga, se llamaba "Campamento Benítez"
