Breathtaking view

In this beautiful French town we felt something in our bones, without anything having been premeditated, since only wanted to see copies of the paintings in the cave of Lacaux II more or less three kilometers away. But the circumstances of a trip like this, forced us to make a small first visit lasted a few hours more . Logically we wanted to buy tickets at the entrance of the caves, for the visit but to our surprise when we found that this had to be done in Montignac Office of Tourism. We headed there. The entry in this little town was relatively new crossing a bridge over the river Vezere that those days was quite swollen by heavy rains its waters with a rich brown.

Barely a few yards after passing this bridge, we were in the heart of this small town and quickly realised its beauty. It was twelve noon and we had quite a hurry, since the last visit to the cave was half an hour later, and we had to buy tickets and go over the three miles that separated us from it, which we did without any problem. Yet it was rather bland as the only guide was in French and we didn't speak that language despite having been in this country many times, so next , we headed back to Montignac, to eat something than make a short visit to the town. On leaving the car in one of the free parking , the first thing we did was to go to a small riverside restaurant Vézère with superb views of the buildings on the shore. The day was perfect and once we sated our hunger, we walked around the city seeing cute nooks and construction of the old church of San Jorge (XII century), the old Hospital of Saint Jean of the century, the Maison Duchême 1876 or the church of Saint Pierre and we could not figure out which century it was built in. But what impressed us most was the short walk through the old bridge for its completely breathtakingly beautiful views.
