A treasure

El Montgó is one of Dénia’s treasures and was declared a national park in 1987 due to its unique flora and fauna and its stunning landscapes.

Within the park, you can find over 600 unqiue species of plants like the kermes oak, samphire, Valencian rock violets, black sheets, and palmettos spread out over a change of 753 meters of altitude.

As far as animals go, you can find yellow-foot gulls, Audouin’s gulls, and various birds of prey, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals like rabbits and dormice.

El Montgó also offers various hiking trails where you can enjoy the marvelous views of the mountains and see

Montgo Park is absolutely gorgeous.

There are loads of trails for all kinds of abilities from absolute beginner to advanced. There are some wonderful biking trails too. And my favourite is the Cala which is worth a visit and a swim.
