1 review of Monte Ventasso

Enjoyed all year round

Monte Ventasso (1727m) can be enjoyed all year round and each season offers a different experience. The hike starts from the Ventasso Laghi ski station. Initially follow a broad pathway, which in the winter is a piste, up to Lago Calmone. This lake is one of the prettiest in the area. In the summer you can watch the fish whilst eating at the lakefront cabin and in the winter you can walk out to the cross in the middle of the lake. Just past the cabin turn away from the lake and climb up through the forest following the marked trail. Once you exit the forest it is a steep but direct climb up to the summit but you will be rewarded with great views of the Apennines, in particular Alpe Succiso.

From the summit you can walk along the summit ridge (some exposure) and then loop back round to tree line. If you are planning this trip in the winter check the conditions first and take appropriate equipment.
