Monumental gate

The monnaie door is one of the monumental gates that mark the entrance to Bordeaux when you come from the Garonne. Imagine in front, on the river, the boats waiting to take the wine and the products of the region, while delivering products brought to the colonies and the Mediterranean. Opens the way to the Saint Michel, and the church of the same name. Built in 1758, and built quickly, they eventually commissioned a work boy watch the door, so only authorized people were permitted to travel through the new door. The door is simply decorated, the last work of Tourny who renovated much of the city

In the eighteenth century.

Gate of money is one of the many gates of Bordeaux, witness the old city limits. This is probably the smallest and most simple. Last development sponsored by the Intendant Tourny, very largely responsible for today's urban development of Bordeaux, it was built in 1756. The foreman is little known as a bit away from the usual tourist circuit between the Holy Cross and Saint Michel district. The door opens on the recently rehabilitated and the river banks, on the one hand, and early the street of the same name, the street door of the currency, known especially for the address of one of the sides restaurants City: La Tupina and old kitchen. A nice little door to see when the last tram or getting lost in the streets of the little-known neighborhoods!
