lovely views of the Kathmandu Valley

Excellent

As seen in the photos, the Buddha eyes are look down from the top of the stupas with a contemplating look. Swayambhunath is the most popular Buddhist temple in Nepal and is also known as the Monkey Temple, WATCH OUT! Be careful with them, they are little thieves. There are also lovely views of the Kathmandu Valley.

A must when you're in Kathmandu

Excellent

Visiting this Buddhist temple is a must when you're in Kathmandu, for a couple reasons really. First, it's a gorgeous temple, with great views of the city, a small market in the interior. Second, it's full of monkeys! You have to be careful when you go up the stairs which lead to the entrance because they don't stop hollering and running around. But it's really cute to see the little ones.

This famous temple that you have copied the eyes to sell all kinds of items around the globe, is another gem of Kathmandu. To raise and have to mark you about 20min. Super steep climbing stairs (should rest a bit as you get up). As you arrive you discover why the "theft of the eyes", they, and you are watching. If like me, you do not bring an idea of what you are getting and do not read a lot of tours, temple sobrecojerá you, you will walk quietly to avoid disturbing and begin to breathe deeply. Chortens genuine designer, old houses converted into "shops", sorry, 3m Buddhas. Golden Buddha and a female with sexy curves. I arrived late in the afternoon, when the sun set, the colors and shadows helped it all a bit more mysterious. .

The flags float above the city

Les drapeaux flottent au-dessus de la ville

Excellent
On croise quelques bonzes.
Swayambu is the "temple monkeys", the great stupa, but it is primarily a hill (it goes stiff!) Where the panorama of Kathmandu is really fabulous. The site is dedicated to Buddha and it is nice to not just the stupa, but to walk on the rolling hill, go to the monastery, a little below, beyond the terminus of taxis. We cross a few monks. Abundant vegetation, which seems happy monkeys. Several small stupas, replicas of larger, prayer flags, and then also under large trees, quiet places away from the pilgrimage site.

Swayambhunath is a privilege to behold....

Swayambhunath is a privilege to behold. Located right on the top of a hill from which you can see much of the Kathmandu Valley. To access the complex there are two very different ways. The first option is to climb the 365 steps pronunciadísimos, and nothing suitable for heart. It is assumed that the penitents and pilgrims climb up here. But what is easy and pleasant access for tourists, which is full of small craft stalls. According to the guide told us, in Swayambhunath buildings are the three types of traditional Nepalese architecture. The most popular is the stupa of Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple. It is a beautiful place and a cultural icon of Nepal, unmistakable painted eyes of Buddha. If you forget the tourists, Swayambhunath also has its mystical side. It is the second holiest site for Buddhists Nepali, only to Bodnath. There you can find a variety of shrines and temples, including a Tibetan monastery, museum and library. In short, a very nice place to spend the morning. Full of life, with spectacular views, souvenirs and crafts at a great price. And of course a lot of spirituality. Highly recommended.

Located on the outskirts of Kathmandu, the temple of Swoyambhunath is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the city, and one of the oldest. Its history dates back even before the arrival of Buddhism in the region. Perched high on a hill overlooking the valley, it offers a breathtaking view of the city and the mountains, as long as the pollution allows you to see far enough. The main temple is a huge stupa, with its beautiful golden cone. But other surrounding temples, and many shops for tourists, as noted by Fredo (there is also a vendor speaking French in the lot!). The temple is also known as the "Monkey Temple" because of the many monkeys living in the area that are sure to accompany you during your climb of several hundred steps! I personally went on foot from Thamel, and the journey is worth it if you take the time to explore the small streets around the main road that leads to the foot of the hill :)

Located about forty minutes walk from the very center of Kathmandu, "The Monkey Temple" to leave already see from afar, perched on a hill like a castle in the sky. It is through the entrance of the Buddhist site that includes his nickname: It is immediately greeted by a multitude of mischievous monkeys but often amusing tourist seeking generous and sometimes frighten him ... But to reach the highest point and wearing gold stupa, it is not enough to follow the monkeys, it also takes all the patience and endurance of a sherpa. Indeed, hundreds of steps slow your ascent to the eyes enjoy the almost wild vegetation (rare in the big city), sculptures and statues in honor of Buddha, but also a few small stands of traditional craftsmen often authentic . Filled symbols and spirituality, we regret that some access to the top is golden fee, but wife peace and history.

Temple Swayambh also called Monkey Temple because it is overrun with monkeys is a forty minutes from KTM local transit. You will be filed against the three immmenses golden statues. You can then join the temple strictly speaking a path that begins behind the golden statues. During the ascent you will see a lot of monkeys but did not look into the eyes as in his case they may feel threatened and attack! At the entrance fee but cheap, you will see a fontaione happiness or should throw coins in to a receptacle, if you do, your wish will hear is, if I told you .... This is a ride to do that exits pollution KTM and be a little more "in the countryside" albeit as a small campaign.

During the visit to "Monkey Temple" or Swayambhunath, we took a slight downpour which made take shelter under the lintel of a door that is in the room, and I was rather surprised to hear a chant and mantras . traveler can not be if you're curious .. So without thinking twice, I entered a hallway to where those voices out. The monks were listening intently to another he read aloud, and occasionally chanting a mantra, barely flinch when poked my head sheepishly and "immortalize" with my camera .. Moreover, I think more one to put face pose.

A part of the famous stupa Bodanath another temple that you can not miss in Kathmandu is Swayambhunath or Monkey Temple, a name well deserved since the place is full of monkeys that if you're not careful you remove the snack!!. It is a huge complex on top of a hill which is accessed through endless stairs but then presents us with a majestic stupa and the best view of the city.

Located on a hill overlooking the Kathmandu valley, the majestic stupa is almost a shrine to himself. There would be 365 steps to reach the top. The route is dotted with small stupas, statues of Buddhas and other apes. It is true that this was the first time in my life that I saw monkeys, so I was always surprised. At the top, the view over the valley is breathtaking. The only building I could recognize, the palace (which was still Royal in February 2007, during my visit). All Buddhist not lack of interest, but is completely invaded by sellers.
