Se encuentra a unos 10 Km del centro de Burgos. Se dice sus ya existía en la época visigoda, aunque si que ha sufrido muchos ataques y destrozos, cono la invasión árabe que terminaron con la vida de 200 monjes, con su respectiva destrucción parcial del monasterio. También destaca la estancia del Cid y de su esposa Jimena. Se puede visitar, lo muestran dos de los monjes de clausura. Actualmente viven allí 12 monjes, y el coste de la visita es de 2 €. Puedo deciros que es recomendable la visita.

A 10 km de Burgos se encuentra dicha localidad, donde esta la ruta de las cuevas, un sendero a veces marcado otras no que se encuentra dentro de un GR de dificultad baja, así paso encontraremos dentro del monte estos parajes tan bonitos. Ideal para dar un paseo por la mañana y almorzar en Castrillo del Val.

Mañana prec iosa en los alrededores de Burgos.....

Haciendo un día de sol precioso, pero con un crudo frio mañanero, me fui a visitar el Monasterio de Cardeña y me volvió a sorprender ,como siempre. Es un Monasterio que esta muy presente en la historia del Cid Campeador, pues cuenta la historia que aquí dejo el Cid, de camino a su destierro, a su mujer Jimena y sus dos hijas al cuidado de los monjes. Esta a tan solo 10 km. de Burgos, por lo cual recomiendo visitarlo, pues es un paseo ir hasta allí .

Un poco lejos pero merece la pena ver el sitio donde estuvo El Cid enterrado. Buena cerveza y vino caseros.

Verdaderamente, San Pedro de Cardeña no ...

Verdaderamente, San Pedro de Cardeña no podría calificarse de monasterio cisterciense en términos históricos, pues hasta la década de 1940 no fue ocupado por una comunidad Císter y fue benedictino hasta las exclaustraciones del siglo XIX.
