A little Hawaiian history
This was the first church built in Hawaii. It was completed in 1837. The land was given to the Christain missionaries, who came from Boston, by King Kamehameha III. The building is made of pieces of lava coral. The interior of the church is very simple, elegant and uses koa wood from the island. There is also a small cemetery outside. It is located on the sea front on Avenue Kailua-Kona Alii.
