Two beautiful lakes
The island of Mljet has two beautiful lakes that are on the western end and are connected by a channel of equal beauty. Both are in the national park and the joining channel is subject to tidal flows. Surrounded by small mountains and completely green forested areas these two lakes have a spectacular beauty. One of the best things about the island of Mljet is that you see water everywhere. The waters are a dramatic deep blue and you always feel like diving into them. Unlike other national parks, visitors here can enjoy themselves by bathing in the waters. Normally they are not deep and are home to thousands of animals, so, hundreds of people come here for diving.
In addition, sports lovers have another incentive as there is a Roman ship wreck dating from the third century in relatively shallow water. The wreckage, including amphorae, have calcified over time and therefore have not been looted. What's more, in these waters there is also a German torpedo boat from World War II. You see Mljet is priceless, though I admit that at first I felt a little bad because I had never bathed in water so clear that you can see the bottom perfectly and, of course, I got scared when I saw so many fish, coral and urchins. Therefore I recommend that you wear slippers at all times in order to be more comfortable. They are also very useful because the banks are rocky and you can not go barefoot. Moreover, there is no problem for nudism lovers as it is common to see people enjoying the water without wearing a swimsuit.
