A charming town
Many people have an image in their head of the beautiful villages of the English countryside, a bucolic atmosphere that brings us back to the Victorian era or the works of Jane Austen. However, people tend to think this way about the southern part of England, around towns like Bath, Cambridge and Oxford. However, there are plenty of picturesque villages elsewhere in the country, too. For example, the village of Middleton-in-Teesdale is found in the northeast area (home to cities like Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland).
Middleton is a charming little town located in the natural area known as the North Pennines, an area of valleys and gorgeous landscapes.
Nearby you'll find one of the most famous waterfalls in the country, High Force, about 15 minutes drive. Its center is well maintained and full of hotels, shops and restaurants, as well as the church. All very green and flowery, usually busier during the summer months but after September it becomes quiet again.
