1 review of Michel Braibant Museum

Charming

Excellent

This museum is dedicated to the art of printing, taking a journey from the beginnings of writing to modern day. It was created by Michel Braibant - bookbinder, bibliophile and a book lover. It's in Montolieu , a charming village where books shine, about 17 kilometres from Carcassonne, France. It does a great job at explaining the history of writing, its evolution and the machines that supported it, like printing. Different machines are presented, showing how they have evolved over time and what has led to their development and the world of books.

Also, you can find a permanent exhibition of the collection of François Bernouard, poet, typographer, printer, publisher and bookseller (1884 - 1948) and temporary exhibitions related to books, crafts and painting. There is a small gift shop that sells souvenirs and books at the entrance inside the museum. It's worth a visit, and it will be the perfect excuse to enjoy this town who make books their hallmark.
