Sanctuary in a contemporary structure with amazing views

Excellent

After visiting Andorra by route making, we got to the Sanctuary "Romanesque" Meritxell, a place of worship of the patron saint of the country, and found a contemporary structure, like that of Romanesque, but edgy in its outer forms. The original Romanesque sanctuary but was burned in the year 1972 and was destroyed. Shortly after they built the current sanctuary which aims to recover its past. It remains unfinished. The architect is Ricardo Bofil. The place is incredible, you go in and the light invades the main room because it has no walls, but glass doors, except for the altar. A mixture of Catholic shrine cloister that is reminiscent of a mosque and style units.

A set of mirrors makes you sit in a place of infinite extent. White is the master of this place inside and outside there is an intense dark brown. The church has been reconstructed in the image and likeness of the above and inside you can find an interpretation center which explains the history of the sanctuary. It is very well done. The place is harmonious, notable for both physical cleaning of forms. There are elevators as well as restrooms. All perfectly fitted in the same space. On the side aisle have a very interesting exhibition of all the churches of Andorra. Interesting, surprising, different. Sometimes it seems dreamlike with its spectral white light. Just add that is in an area of exuberant nature and the views are amazing. The visit is free and without a guide, unless you come with a group.
