This has been the market area or shopping street since medieval times (supposedly), and its role remains unchanged. You can find a market here almost daily, selling everything from fruit to underwear. But that's not all. You'll also find the tourist information office in a Victorian building, with information as well as maps, postcards and all kinds of souvenirs for sale. It's the best place to go to get a feel for the local area.
