Mekong River, Laos at the Slow Boat Thailand
One of the best things to do in Southeast Asia is to navigate down the river. This river is a place where thousand of people have experienced life and various histories are told via the river. You can go from Thailand to Laos on the slow boat, as the two-day trip from Chiang Kong has its last stop in Thailand to Luang Prabang, in between going to do a night in Pakbeng, which is very much a trip that is recommended, even though the boat certainly go some drunken Anglos during the trip engaged in drinking, but hey these things happen, and the spectacular views and a good experience if you have time
To spend those two days on the boat, every day travel time is between 6-8 hours, so you do not forget to get a good book and music in your backpack
