Luxury Hotel-Casino
Not too far from the Promenade des Anglais, which is Nice's magnificent promenade, you will find the Palais de la Méditerranée. It is one of the most emblematic examples of Deco Art. Its facade is made of white marble, which makes it even more impressive. The building opened in 1929, with a meeting of such stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Coco Chanel and Maurice Chevalier among others. The Hotel enjoyed large periods of splendor until 1978 when it was partially demolished, due, in part, to its decline during those years. In 1983 its facade was declared a Monument of Historical Interest, saving the palace from its complete destruction.
In 2004, after much labour, it opened again, this time as a luxury Hotel-Casino. From the third floor, which is open to the public, you can enjoy excellent views, while we had a quiet drink. It's amazing the size of the facade and the contrast it offers with the blue sky. Walking along the Promenade des Anglais is rewarding, the smell of the sea washes over you completely, while the soft, fresh breeze accompanies you completely along the boulevard . On one side you have the sea, on the other you have impressive buildings that transport you to the not-so-distant past, to the luxury of the beginning of the century, to years full of excitement and joy.
