Old wall built near the year 1270
The exact date of the construction of the wall is unknown, but it had to be very close to the year 1270, the year that King Alfonso X "The Wise" granted the charter to Villaviciosa. At the time this town was known by the name of Maliayo. The wall had 4 doors and in the vicinity of this fragment was the "Puerta'L Cañu", just south of the populated and by the water pipes had where now stands the gardens of Santa Clara. The wall existed when Charles I came to Villaviciosa.
