Beautiful old town

Situated on a promontory at the convergence of the Ara and Cinca rivers, this beautiful old centre of Aínsa revolves around thefantastic and very old arcaded Plaza Mayor.

The village, which was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Sobrarbe, is sprinkled with middle ages buildings, among those which stand out is the exquisite Romanic tower of the church. The small paved streets of Aínsa are flanked by beautiful decorated manor houses, many of them converted into friendly hotels and decoration shops.

The village itself, is the centre of village life in Sobrarbe, it’s full of life. Under the arches of the square, the traditional inns and restaurants are usually full of clients who are trying the typical dishes of the region.

The best: a tasty lamb stew in the traditional style of Aragon.

Great country village

I went last year in winter. It is a very beautiful village at the foot of the Pyrenees, where the people are very friendly and the food fantastic.

The country side is excellent for photography, and it takes you back to a different time, including a different world taken from mythical stories.

From the bell the views are splendid

Besides being a "happening" town, it is also nice to enjoy a pleasant stroll along the top of Ainsa in order to admire the well-preserved old town. Some of the very well-kept cobbled streets and pretty houses that neighbors have filled with flowers as you get you closer to the large square with its medieval arcades. On one side are the remains of the castle, whose history dates back to XI Century and is protected by a great wall. On the other is the Romanesque church of Santa Maria, it is simple but has an outstanding tower and surely the world's smallest cloister of pentagonal shape. From the bell the views are splendid.

Mar clay

If I had to vote for what are for me the most beautiful villages of Spain, of course ;) I have seen, I have no doubt that would occupy a privileged place Ainsa, in the Pyrenees of Huesca. There again I noted the great treasures we have in our country. Medieval town all the way, no one should miss his fantastic main square, directly catapult you back centuries and the view from the bell tower of his church, which allowed me to take this photo, where it joins the sea clay roofs of their houses medieval built in perfect harmony with a wonderful natural environment. This photo is of when or even have concerns about these things, but I do remember that was the first screensaver I was proud: D

The most beautiful in Spain

De lo más bonito de España

Excellent
With the typical narrow cobbled streets and balconies with flowers, the most peaceful to walk around and drink something in all the sites there are. Many of them are in the square, where there are several terraces. A curiosity is that you are allowed to climb the bell tower to get a view of the whole village and the spectacular surroundings.

sin palabras

Excellent

The tourist entrance is made from the parking (payment) that directly leads to the gates of the wall. The village itself is small but very monumental, several tourist proposals have been carried out to make it more interesting, such as exhibitions about tools of the time or a museum about the fauna of the area. A nice place to take a walk at sunset and have some dinner at the Plaza Mayor.

Initially, Ainsa was at the heart of the Kingdom of Sobrarbe that in the eleventh century, has joined its neighbor kingdom of Aragon. Populations in which we can go back several hundred years until reaching medieval times

Retroceder a la época medieval.

Excellent
Aragon in general is beautiful and a must, but from my point of view, the Sobrarbe region is one of the most spectacular places to disconnect a few days from the rest of the world and to be able to live in the middle of nature. Populations in which we can go back several hundred years to reach the medieval era.
