The Medieval Quarter
Limerick's Medieval Quarter is mostly based within King's Island, near the Shannon River. At that time, most of the city was on the island. Now it's a pretty quiet neighborhood. It almost abandoned after the industrial age, when the city was developed on the other side of the river, where factories and houses were more convenient for workers and families. While Saint Nicholas Street was the main street of the medieval town, now O'Connell is now the street where you'll find the best places to shop, eat and stay. Within the medieval quarter, there is not much more to see than museums and historical monuments.
