A Matriz de Santo Antônio foi construída no século XVIII, passou por inúmeras reformas ao longo dos anos, até chegar na obra
que podemos contemplar hoje.
Quem julga pela fachada simples de ângulos retos e torres baixas, não pode imaginar a beleza encontrada no seu interior
Suas pinturas, ornatos no estilo Rococó, encantam a todos que a visitam.
O altar principal da igreja é todo talhado em madeira artisticamente dourada, com frisos e policromia delicada.
Atrás do trono baixo, composto por três degraus está a imagem de Santo Antônio, há uma linda pintura de Cristo carregando
a Cruz.
No forro do templo há uma magnífica pintura da Ascensão de Cristo, do mestre Athayde, e, no alto da nave encontra-se a assunção de Nossa Senhora.
Considerada uma das mais bonitas igrejas mineiras, a Matriz é sem dúvida uma visita obrigatória.
