Marschiertor

O Portão Sul da antiga muralha externa de Aachen é uma das duas torres e poucos remanescentes que ainda existem da muralha medieval da cidade. Este portão era um dos 4 maiores entre os 14 da antiga muralha, também chamada de Muralha Gótica. Sua construção foi iniciada no fim do século XIII e concluída no início do séc. XIV. Possui 4 andares e um telhado bastante característico em forma de tenda. Ao lado da ampla passagem central, há uma estátua de um soldado entalhando um pedaço de madeira, representando um hábito da época medieval. Por ser tão antigo, já sofreu algumas reformas e restaurações, sendo uma delas devido a bombardeios da II Guerra Mundial. Hoje em dia no Marschiertor são realizados eventos de uma associação da cidade, associação esta que já arrecadou dinheiro para restauração e conservação do portão.

The South Gate of the old outer wall of Aachen is one of two towers and a few remnants that still exist from the medieval city wall. Es tan solo un pasadizo que solía ser la puerta de la ciudad, pero es bonito de ver. Lo recomiendo si pasas por allí, pero no vayas solo para eso porque entonces no merece la pena.

It is very nice but not recommended is just a passage that used to be the city gate but it is nice to see what I recommend if you go through there but do not go alone for that because then it"s not worth it
