Impresionante plaza. Puedes estar horas observando todos y cada uno de los detalles que tiene. Especialmente, el monumento más interesante es el ayuntamiento nuevo (Neues Rathaus) de Munich, especialmente la fachada, repleta de gárgolas, estatuas y una ornamentación llena de filigrana. Me encantó el carillón, el quinto más grande de Europa, que cuenta con dos representaciones: en la parte superior, unos autómatas representando un torneo que tiene lugar por motivo del desposamiento del duque Guillermo V de Wittelsbach con Renata de Lorena, mientras que en la parte inferior se aprecia un baile típico de Munich. A las 17 horas, la plaza se llena de gente dispuesta a observar este evento.

Stunning square. You can spend hours looking at every single detail you have. Especially, the most interesting monument is the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) in Munich, especially the facade, replete with gargoyles, statues and filled with filigree ornamentation. Loved the carillon, the fifth largest in Europe, with two performances: at the top, representing automata tournament that takes place on the grounds of the betrothal of Duke William V of Wittelsbach with Renata of Lorraine, while in the bottom seen a typical dance of Munich. La céntrica plaza conocida como Marienplatz es el centro y el corazón de Múnich. Se encuentra el ayuntamiento, Columna de Santa María (protectora de la ciudad), el antiguo y el nuevo ayuntamiento que uno pensaría que es una iglesia pero es el ayuntamiento con estilo neogótico y estilo medieval, la fuenta principal y punto de encuentro en la plaza se llama Fischbrunnen. Muy importante ver el Carillón: todos los días a las 11:00, 12:00 y 17:00 horas (varía en función de la época) el famoso carillón del Ayuntamiento nuevo se hace dueño de las miradas de todos los visitantes. Las figuras de tamaño real que lo componen realizan la “Danza de Cooper” al son de una agradable melodía que conmemora el acto que tuvo lugar en el año 1517 para celebrar el fin de la peste. La plaza se llena de visitantes a esas horas para apreciar el espectáculo. Además hay webcam en la plaza que puedes acceder desde el móvil y tomarte una foto graciosa mirandote cómo la cámara captura toda la plaza. Hay otras cámaras de vigilancia en la ciudad que puedes acceder a ellas para conocer el clima y el ambiente.

Lo primero que se me viene a la cabeza con la palabra Munich es la imagen de Marienplatz. Para mí, el rincón más bonito de la ciudad. En la Edad Media acogía el mercado de sal y cereales de la capital de Baviera. Hoy alberga importantes monumentos, entre ellos el Ayuntamiento Nuevo ([I]Neues Rathaus[/I]), símbolo de la ciudad de estilo neogótico y muy conocido en todo el mundo por su fachada con numerosas esculturas y por el [I]Glockenspiele[/I], reloj que activa a diario a las 11 de la mañana y a las 5 de la tarde el carillón, a la vez que las figuras cobran movimiento imitando un torneo y una danza. Justo enfrente del ayuntamiento hay una iglesia que permite acceder a lo alto de su torre. Totalmente recomendado. Subir cuesta un euro para estudiantes. Es un poco pesado llegar hasta arriba por las estrechas escaleras. Cada 2 minutos te tienes que parar para dejar pasar en la otra dirección, pero merece la pena. Seréis testigos de las mejores vistas de la ciudad. La plaza está en pleno centro de Munich. No hace falta que recomiende la visita porque pasareis por allí seguro.

Da igual la de veces que la hayas visto en fotos. Marienplatz de dejará alucinado según te aproximes a ella y veas sus dimensiones y la cantidad de detalles que se pueden ver en el Nuevo Ayuntamiento, que es el edificio que domina toda la plaza. Es el corazón de la ciudad, desde donde salen muchas de las calles comerciales más importantes de Munich. Por cierto, estén atentos a sus relojes, a las 11.00 (y 12.00 y 5.00 pm si es verano) salen a bailar los muñequitos del Glockenspiel, un juego de campanas situado en la torre del Nuevo Ayuntamiento con un mecanismo de muñecos del siglo XVI que cuenta dos historias diferentes. La plaza además situa al grueso del principal Mercadillo navideño de Múnich, un mercadillo que se extiende por un montón de calles colidantes uniéndose con otros en otras plazas. Un año viviendo en Munich y Marienplatz jugaba con mi respiración a su antojo cada vez que volvía aquella esquina. Parece imposible que en un lugar tan pequeño pueda caber tanta belleza. La plaza, centro neurálgico de la ciudad, está presidida por el ayuntamiento de estilo neogótico, y la Frauenkirche o catedral de Nuestra Señora con dos torres de 99 metros que se ven divisan desde varios kilómetros por una ley urbanística que impide realizar construcciones más altas que la catedral en el centro urbano. Las fotos están tomadas desde lo más alto de la torre de la Peterskirche. Casi me dejo un pulmón subiendo las angostas escaleras!!

A year living in Munich and Marienplatz played with my breathing at will whenever that corner again. It seems impossible that in a place so small it can fit so much beauty. Beautiful square and even more charming with navideos markets Marienplatz

Questa piazza è il cuore pulsante della città, infatti qui siamo in pieno centro di Monaco nella zona pedonale. Dai tempi del Medioevo vi si teneva il mercato del grano e del sale e oggi, nel mese che precede Natale, Marienplatz ospita il Mercato di Gesù Bambino (Christkindlmarkt). Sulla piazza si affacciano il nuovo municipio in stile gotico con la torre del Glockenspiel che suona tre volte al giorno, il vecchio municipio e il museo del giocattolo.
