Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Sebastian hotel

We wanted to get lost in the Basque Country and we had two options, this hotel in San Sebastian and the Sheraton Bilbao, but we ended up going to San Sebastian.

I had already heard about the hotel, that it was spectacular, that it lodges famous people in the film festival, I had seen the rooms in clothes catalogues, in the television, etc, and I wanted to see for myself if it was just a façade to sell products, but no, it is truly beautiful, with an excellent service and a privileged location in the city. I spent one of the most luxurious weekends of my life.

The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, it is one of the most luxurious hotels in Spain, it belongs to the Luxury Collection chain, so the building has to be ancient and unique. It was inaugurated by the Queen María Cristina; this is why the hotel is called like this. It is a five star hotel. The luxury and beauty capture everyone who sees it.

I found in booking.com an offer of 375,00 € for three nights. We were really lucky because it was for a normal bedroom but we got a suite with views to the river.

The hotel is marvelous in every aspect: building, rooms, views, etc. The downside is the parking lot, because it’s public and they charge you 8 Euros. They also charge you for the internet service.

This is probably the best hotel in San Sebastian. It has a four star category, even though it’s more like a five star hotel.

It is one of those special places, and even more special when it celebrates the famous film festival. The hotel was inaugurated by Queen Maria Cristina (giving her name to the hotel) in 1912, gathering feelings and figures that carry the weight of an artistic, social, economical and even cultural experience.

It is a beautiful hotel, ancient but with a fantastic decoration. It has an entrance with tall roofs and is decorated in a decadent style.

It is located in the middle of the action, between two beaches.

In this hotel I proposed to my girlfriend, who is now my wife and mother of my two children.

It is an unforgettable place that transports you to another era. The restaurant is fantastic. I really recommend it.
