First major public work
Built between 1828-1838 it was the first major public work in Alcoy and it improved communications. The bridge was named Maria Cristina (as a tribute to Maria Cristina Bourbon Dos Sicilies, fourth wife of Ferdinand VII). The bridge is medievalist in style and combines the use of rough blocks of stone and fine limestone. Its maximum height is 27 meters above the Riquer riverbed, at the point where you start heading to Tints.
