Marble Quarry

Situated the center of the island of Naxos you can see one of the largest quarries where, since ancient times, the Greeks extracted marble (it was extracted both on the island of Naxos and Paros). They used this marble to build their temples and sculptures. This is the most famous quarry. It is still funtioning today, therefore it can only be seen from the road between the villages of kourounochori and Kinidaros.
