Connects Slotsholmen with the city
The Marble Bridge, or Marmorbroen, connects Christiansborg on the island of Slotsholmen with the rest of the city. The bridge was built between 1739 and 1745. On each side, elaborate decorations make a kind of gateway to Slotsholmen. The tops are covered with marble, and the medallions bear the coats of arms of the royal family, and are framed by mythological characters. It is quite a formal place, but when we went there we saw plenty of people by the water having picnics and giving some life to this official site.
