Manuel Alcantara Square

La plaza de Manuel Alcántara, lleva ese nombre en reconocimiento al Poeta, escritor y periodista Manuel Alcántara, una persona muy vinculada a la ciudad de Málaga, y de reconocido talento. En la plaza confluyen la Avenida de Andalucía y la Calle Armengual de la Mota, una calle bastante ambientada por los numerosos comercios y la Avenida de Andalucía, que termina en la salida de esa zona de Málaga, donde enlazas para tomar la Autovía hacia Granada, Jaén y Madrid o bien para Cadiz en el sentido contrario. En mitad de la Plaza está la conocida Fuente de las Gitanillas,que fué encargada por el entonces Alcalde de Málaga Don Francisco García Grana al escultor Adrián Risueño Gallardo. Este realizó tres esculturas representando a la mujer malagueña, vestidas con el traje típico. La fuente pasó a llamarse la Fuente Monumental de las Malagueñas, aunque al día de hoy es solo conocida como La Fuente de las Gitanillas.
