League of Fighters
The so-called "Edificio do Principal" is named after the current Plaza do Principal. It was built in the late eighteenth century by Lieutenant Colonel José de Morais Antas Machado to house a military building intended for the Home Guard. The building has 3 facades (on Largo do Principal and on Caminho and Combatentes da Grande Guerra streets), given the slope of the street the building is 2 or 3-stories high. Highlights are the middle floor porch formed by 4 arches with a granite balustrade. Currently the ground floor hosts the "League of Fighters" and the first Comisión Regional de Turismo del Nordeste Transmontano.
