The town of Bolivar in Colombia is located on the banks of the Magdalena River, approximately 250 km from Cartagena de Indias. From a tourism perspective, the most important sights are the cathedral of La Candelaria, which is opposite the pier and park in The Americas. After Mompox, it is the biggest attraction in the area. There is a solitary village road down which you can take a bus which heads to the docks in the direction of Mompox (it takes about 2 hours).
