Mae Sariang

Mae Sariang si trova nel Nord Ovest della Tailandia tre le più note Mae Sot e Mae Hong Son e ad un passo dal Myanmar, che si può scorgere al di là del fiume Salween. Per gli standard tailandesi questa zona si può considerare ancora abbastanza "off the beaten track", i viaggiatori sono pochi e non c'è la solita atmosfera che si trova in genere nelle altre città del nord del paese. In realtà fino a pochi anni fa Mae Sariang era una cittadina quasi sconosciuta ai viaggiatori, ma la crescente popolarità del "Mae Hong Son Loop" ( un percorso classico da fare in moto o in scooter ) l'ha fatta conoscere ed entrare nei circuiti dei backpackers. In ogni caso Mae Sariang è una città vivace e tutto sommato gradevole con molte belle case in legno, qualche tempio interessante e delle belle campagne e foreste nei dintorni. Numerose le attività possibili in zona, anche se il trekking nella giungla tra i villaggi ( prevalentemente Karen ) la fa da padrone.

Mae Sariang is located in the North West of Thailand three most famous Mae Sot and Mae Hong Son and one step closer to Myanmar, which can be seen beyond the Salween River. By Thai standards this area can be considered still quite "off the beaten track", travelers are few and there is not the usual atmosphere that is typically found in other northern cities in the country. In fact, until a few years ago Mae Sariang was a town almost unknown to travelers, but the growing popularity of "Mae Hong Son Loop" (a classic route to do your bike or scooter) has made it known and enter in the network of backpackers. In any case, Mae Sariang is a vibrant city and all in all nice with many beautiful wooden houses, some interesting temple and the beautiful countryside and the surrounding forests. Numerous activities are possible in the area, though the jungle trekking between villages (mainly Karen) is the master.

Dopo un'estenuante ed incredibile strada piena di tornati e strappi super pendenti arriverete finalmente nell'animata Mae Sariang. Facilmente visitabile a piedi, offre al viaggiatore tutti i servizi di cui può necessitare, anche un buon bike shop! A sette km da qui si trova il Salween National Park, uno dei parchi thailandesi con più biodiversità. Lungo la via principale potrete gustare dell'ottima carne alla griglia (ovviamente accompagnata da riso), pesce o spiedini fatti con strani animali...C'è una vasta scelta di sistemazioni per tutte le tasche e per avere una mappa della cittadina e della provincia dovrete recarvi presso la sede della municipality (seguendo la via principale al primo semaforo girare sulla sinistra e proseguire per circa 400 metri!). Ottimo punto di partenza per esplorazioni della zona o semplicemente buon punto di sosta per rilassarsi lungo il fiume.

After an exhausting and amazing street full of tears and returned super pendants arrive finally the animated Mae Sariang. Easily explored on foot, offers the traveler all the facilities as it may require, also a good bike shop! At seven miles from here is the Salween National Park, one of the parks in Thailand with more biodiversity. Along the main street you can enjoy excellent grilled meat (of course accompanied by rice), fish or kebabs made with strange animals ... There is a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and to get a map of the city and province should do so in the headquarters of the municipality (following the main road to the first traffic light turn left and continue for about 400 meters!). Excellent starting point for exploring the area or just good stopping point for relaxing along the river.
