Looking Glass Theatre

This Chicago-based theater company was created in the late 80's as a non-profit organization. Their productions have received numerous awards, but the most interesting thing about the group is the physical space in which their productions are staged: the former pumping station on Michigan Avenue, opposite the Water Tower. The decorative elements of the building, one of the few survivors of the great fire of Chicago, are reminiscent of a medieval castle...a striking vision in one of the most densely populated urban areas in the world.
