The greatest beer selection
The term "local option" refers to the ability of a neighborhood or county to have a license to prohibit or reduce the sales of liquor. This neighborhood bar in Chicago is one of the oldest and last traditional Chicago neighborhood taverns. It's name comes from when years and years ago it was a biker bar and the neighborhood attempted to become a "dry area" to get rid of the rowdy bar. Local Option petitioned and fought to stay open and won. Today they have some of the greatest beer selection in the city.
Not only are they a brewery that serves their own beer, but also known to be international in their selection. This was the first bar in Chicago to feature Rolling Rock, which is why there is a beautiful mural painted across the wall.
