Legendary
If there is a bar legendary for excellence in Salamanca, its bar Llamas. It is a small hotel located near the plaza mayor (Main Square), where it seems that time does not pass at all.
The decor is simple yet very cosy and for our group in particular really special as the walls are filled with photographs of mountaineers who have climbed great summits and taken a picture with a propaganda scarf from the bar. The good news is that many of the pictures are of our group, and that's always a thrill. The rest of the decor is simple, a few pictures of bullfighters and little else.
The bar counter is very narrow, so it seems that the locale is always packed, but there is another room in the back, past the bar, with tables and wooden chairs where there is usually more room.
The owner is a charming person; he is the typical good-natured gentleman who gives his all day and night so that the bar can move forward. He seems serious, but he’s a good guy.
The best part is the price of the drinks and their quality. For three euros you can have numerous “copazos” (mixed drinks of e.g. rum and Coke) just as God intended and beers are no more than a euro and a half.
The only drawback is this place so traditional that the bathrooms are a bit "dull", but you get used to them right away.
It is our ultimate bar in Salamanca and whenever we are in the city we either start or finish the party here. I recommend you visit because it’s worth it; and if you do, you will surely repeat.
