Lizard Island

It is one of the most exclusive islands in the north of the Barrier Reef. It is only accessible by boat or by private plane. Cruise ships are banned. Due to the limited movement of people and, above all, divers, the coral reefs have remained spectacular! They are very well maintained unlike near Cairns. I would say it is one of the most amazing areas of the coral reef...only just snorkelling ... You get in the water and it's right there! The part of the island that I visited (the beach in the photos), has two reefs, one coral and the other has curious underwater species. The private plane flight can be hired in Cairns and back the same day.
