Center of the wine industry
Lemesos, the second largest city on the island, is the center of the wine industry and a bustling tourist center known for its varied nightlife. It doesn't have any historical monuments, except for the medieval castle. The castle of Lemesos, was the scene of a royal wedding in the Middle Ages between Richard the Lionheart, King of England, and Berengaria of Navarre, and now houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum. The city has grown in recent years and now covers about 15 kilometers of coastline followed by a long road lined with hotels and apartment buildings, interspersed with eucalyptus forests.
