The old center old of Lille
Rihour Square is in the old center old of Lille, it's lively but not as much as the Grand Place and the Plaza Theatre. Tt has a few restaurants, high traffic and the subway stop Rihour leaves you in the middle. Rihour Square should be your first stop if you go to Lille, because it's where you find the tourist information office. They are very nice, love their city and will give all the necessary information, such as a large map of Lille with suggested walking routes. In December, about 5 weeks before Christmas, the Christmas market begins in the square. It's then filled with small wooden chalets that sell decorations, gifts and prepare pain d'epice (sweet brown bread with cardamom, cinnamon and several other species) and speculoos (typical local pastries).
