Lighthouse of the Strong do Cavalo

The Forte do Cavalo lighthouse is in the old Fort of S. Teodósio, built between 1648 and 1652 in Ponta do Cavalo, in the village of Sesimbra, Setúbal, which is now quite a tourist area. The lighthouse was installed on top of the strong battery in 1895. It began operating on September 15, 1896, at 35m high with its steady red light, white painted iron tower measuring 6 m tall.
