Gastronomic surprises

In the heart of the beautiful medieval town of Chauvigny and housed in a beautiful Renaissance-style building dating back to the fifteenth century we find the quaint, charming and attractive restaurant "Les choucas". It is a "rare bird" and that the premises constitute the sole survivor of the old taverns that once proliferated in this area of ​​the city. In "The Rooks",-literal translation of Les choucas-exudes the charm of a noble building with years of history and surely filled with stories - if the old walls could speak- endearing as it would be. On the lower floor dining intense reds match perfectly with the black ebony furniture and the bare and worn stones of arches and stairways.

On the upper floor, a splendid fireplace is the centrepiece of the lounge and the diner enjoys whatever comes ...... there is a high quality kitchen, committed to local tradition whilst keeping sight of creativity and innovation. It's late December and we are reluctant to abandon late Spanish eating times, luckily - and probably due to these factors, the restaurant was almost empty so the owner gave us his full attention and patiently gives the menu with special emphasis on the chef's suggestions; which sounded so appetizing, so evocative of French haute cuisine dishes so that even those who do not understand a word of French start to water at the mouth "bûchette veau d'onglet poêlé, risotto coloré of coquillettes, pétales of parmesan "," Grilled Hachez recouvert veau de foin "," foie gras de pata negra "," cochon de lait à la Truffe carré "," lotte rôti Pata Negra "," I homard et de la Bretagne " Who cannot water at the mouth? You can eat very well for the 20-30 € menu per person (which includesa bottle of French wine medium-low), you can try one of two menus € 24 and 32 respectively, or enjoy the special which will cost you about 15 €.
