A peaceful city
There are many good reasons to visit this small town. Leiria is situated in the center of Portugal and it is a good starting point for sightseeing, such as the Monastery of Batalha, the Convent of Christ in Tomar, Fatima Shrine, the Monastery Alcobaça , the fishing village of Nazaré and other points near the coast (Sao Martinho do Porto, Vieira ... Noel Sao Pedro do, for example). It was founded as a borough in the year 1114.
